The name Dolfikland stems from the ancient Dol tribe in northwestern Traestan, which migrated to what is now southern Dolfikland sometime between BCE 500 and BCE 300. As the most powerful tribe in the area, they quickly subjugated most of their neighbors, with those coming under their rule being known as the Dolfyks, with "Fyk" being a word in the native tongue of the region's inhabitants meaning "People". Hence, "Dolfik" can be read as "Dol people". The term quickly came to refer to all of the inhabitants of the region. By 1000 CE the word had gradually shifted into the word "Dolfik," whilst "Dolfikland," or "land of the Dolfiks" eventually came to mean almost the entirety of what is now the modern heartland of the Kingsrike.
