Nations with which the Iconian Empire has diplomatic relations.

The diplomatic foreign relations of the Iconian Empire are conducted by the Imperial Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by the Legatus Peregrinus. The Praefectus Praetorii and his government plays a role in setting policies and focusing on the foreign politics of the Empire.

The Iconian Empire is a founding member of the SECT, ITS and Kerbal Assembly and partner to the Nuntic Union among many other nations and organisations.

History

The Iconian Empire has been isolationist and involved in civil wars on its soil, preventing it to engage in foreign diplomacy and expeditions to other continents until the later centuries. The first formal relations established were with the nation of Edusa. After the collapse of Aquilian Empire however, the connections were silenced again for nearly a century. The Iconian Empire has been heavily involved in diplomacy following the 16th century colonalism of the other world powers, dissuading them from invading the country while also supporting actions against Dolfik expansionism. The nation's neutrality played a big role until modern times when the nation participated in the Great War, and since then, the country has engaged in foreign relations heavily to secure the sovereignty and protection of its citizens.

Iconian Empire claims the overseas territory of Alora island.

Relations

There are currently no nations that do not have accreditation to the Iconian Empire or utilize Accredited Non-resident embassy.

Sverna

Relations with Sverna were established mainly in the 20th century, during the establishment of Kolonia and northern wars. The only nations which keep relatively good relations with Iconia are Ametà and Kolonia.

Andolia

Relations with Andolia were established during the colonization age of the Dolfik and Anderian Empires. Trade with Dolfiks was established, and the relations improved over the ages due to mutual benefits.

Cancodia

The Cancodian nations were contacted by merchant trade in the late middle ages. The most influential relationship is the one with Icaria and Verkimlund.

Mlorba

Nuntic Union nations of Mlorba are good allies of Iconia, although the Middle Ages crusades influenced relations with other nations of the western part of Mlorba.

Serthenia

The Iconian Empire maintained good relations with Serthenian nations since the revolutionary wars which it supported to undermine the spread of the Dolfik Empire's influence and power. Edusa was also the first state with which Iconia established relations.

Nuntic Union

Nuntic Union and especially Serrian Empire–Iconian Empire relations are close, marked by shared history, culture, institutions and language, extensive people-to-people links, aligned security interests, and vibrant trade and investment cooperation. The long-standing relationship formally began in the 13th century when the Iconian Empire fought alongside Serrians in the Crusades. Nuntic union members share similar history and relations with Iconia through long cooperation and ties to each other.
