The Imperial Air Force (IAF) is the aerial warfare force of the Iconian Empire. It was established just shortly before the beginning of the Great War. The Air Force's mission is to support the Iconian government's objectives and ensure the security and defence of the Iconian aerospace. The Air Force's strategic goals are to focus on defensive denial of the Iconian airspace and protect it from any threats. The Imperial Air Force maintains an operational fleet of fixed and rotary wing aircraft as well as space assets and surface air defence and support units. One of its secondary tasks is the capability for rapid strike transportation to any place on the globe in accordance with the shift towards a new doctrine, adding the power projection goals for achieving the goals of Iconia and its allies.
History
The origins of the Imperial Air Force roots back in the allegiance towards Serria, which invented the first aerial machines. The Iconian Army Air Service has been established roughly a decade after these events with the acquisition of serrian biplanes. These biplanes have been thoroughly studied, and soon thereafter has the iconic aviation industry been created as a state-owned firm. The aeroplanes produced has originated from a license negotiated with the Serrian state, which allowed the Air Service to deepen its knowledge in these machines' production. Nonetheless, the advancements were very slow and nowadays, the Iconian domestic industry is capable of producing merely light training jet and propeller planes.
Throughout the 20th century, a second, Navy Air Service was established with the introduction of Aircraft Carriers and both Air services remained separate. In 1954, the Imperial Air Force was established and included former Army and Navy Air Services and also Army Logistics Command with the aim to still maintain the IAF status of supportive branch. This layout was kept until modern day with the Imperial Air Force including majority of Armed Forces air assets as well as including the supportive branches of the Iconian Defence Force. Except the Air Force assets, The Imperial Navy is an exception with its Maritime patrol wing and helicopter assets and Iconian Army helicopter assets.
Structure
Senior Management
The professional head and highest-ranking military officer of the Imperial Air Force is the Comes red Aerospatialis. The governmental head is the Minister of Defence and the Consul. The highest-ranking officer of the Air Force is the Iconian Head of State. These officials are forming part of the Iconian Defence Council governing the whole armed forces. The Comes' deputies, bearing the Legate ranks, are heading the Operations branch, Air Defence branch, Personnel branch and finally the operational heads of the Aquilian, Viridian, Thessolakian and Oversea territories.
Administrative and operational command of the Aerospace Control Division is delegated to the Headquarters in Aurelia. The subsequent unit's command is controlled from the 9th Air Brigade Headquarters or Airport Headquarters respectively. The Air Force is then dispersed into following groups:
8th Missile Brigade Tassius The missile brigade Tassius is in control of the ground missile assets of the Imperial Air Force. Its equipment includes anti-air and anti-ship missile batteries located around the archipelago.

- 78th Logistic Battalion
9th Aerospace Intelligence Brigade The support brigade is in command of majority of surface assets of the Air Force including the radar and other detection sensory equipment.
The first established part of the air force was the 9th Wing consisting of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Scout Squadrons, nowadays being a fighter/multirole Squadrons.
The Air Force 22nd Space Wing includes the 49th Space Squadron possessing spaceplane assets as well as satellite control and monitoring capabilities of the Armed Forces.
The Air Force also includes the 23rd Special Operation Forces Regiment, whose duties include high readiness as well as classified operations. The Support Division of the Armed Forces is tasked in providing support to all branches of the armed forces.
