Transportation infrastructure in Iconia is connecting all population centres on the islands via a high-speed railroad network and motorway network. The radial road network is currently in modernisation, urged by the noticeable increase in car usage. The modernisation program aims to construct up to 250 kilometres of new motorways or railways into new standards. The obsolete standard of two-lane motorway without breakdown lanes is replaced by wider two or three-lane highways with breakdown lanes and rest stops. Local cities are aiding this project by funding new city bypasses reliving their centre traffic.
